Jimmy Cobb

James (Jimmy) Cobb (b. 1999, Muskegon, MI) is an artist based in Milwaukee, WI. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. His work has been exhibited at Task Gallery, Var Gallery, Zhou B Art Center, the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design Galleries, and Union Gallery. Cobb is the recipient of the 2021 ArtPrize, and his work is held in collections including Grand Valley State University. His public art includes a mural at Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids, MI.

 

"My work aims to inform two sides of a visual paradigm. My subjects converse with their object-hood and their environments. My observations remain a catalyst for everyday moments turned to sculpture or scribe. The nature of the body built from my practice leads me toward a better understanding of the relationship we maintain with our physical, virtual, and energetic worlds. In this exercise, we come to see our separate perspectives within the oneness of our being."
